You First Advocacy
independent service supporting adults across Renfrewshire who are accessing health or social care services.
Our role is to empower individuals by listening, supporting, and standing alongside them to ensure their rights and views are fully heard and respected when dealing with care providers or public services. We operate on an issue-based model, offering professional advocacy to people facing challenges with their care — whether in the community or in hospital settings.
In addition to care-related matters, we also assist individuals experiencing difficulties with housing, benefits, debt, care plans, hospital treatment, complaints processes, and issues relating to the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act. While these are common areas of support, our service extends to a wide range of concerns.
We support people with mental health conditions, physical or learning disabilities, and older adults. Where appropriate, we also offer guidance or signposting to other organisations better placed to help with specific needs.
